Foreign Minister Irakli Menagharishvili filed resignation today, in the wake of Eduard Shevardnadze’s resignation.
According to the Foreign Ministry Irakli Menagharishvili filed resignation five days ago, but remained in the office after the request of Nino Burjanadze, the acting president.
Irakli Menagharishvili was in the Foreign Minister’s position since 1995.
Unofficial reports say that there are two possible candidacies for this position – Tedo Japaridze, the secretary of the Georgia’s national security council and Revaz Adamia, Georgia’s envoy to the UN.
