Russia Condemns Attacks on its Diplomats in Georgia

The Russian Foreign Ministry today raised concern over the attack on Counselor of the Russian Embassy to Georgia Victor Rinza in Tbilisi and called the incident ?a criminal provocative action.?

?The Russian side expresses protest against such facts and stresses that, unfortunately, this is not the first case, when Russian citizens and diplomats have become the victims of violent actions in Georgia,? the statement issued by the Russian Foreign Ministry on December 5 reads.

The Foreign Ministry urges the Georgian authorities to detain and punish the criminals as soon as possible and to prevent similar incidents in future.

Counselor of the Russian Embassy to Georgia Victor Rinza was attacked and robbed in Tbilisi December 5 morning. Similar incident took place in August, when Alexander Valyukh, the First Secretary of the Russian Embassy to Georgia, was attacked in Tbilisi.
