After the two-hour detention, Levan Kacharava of the Adjarian Civil Society Committee was released, but he is severely beaten, the committee activists reported.
The committee initiated collection of signatures of the Adjara residents demanding holding of the January 4 president elections in the Autonomous Republic.
Several unknown men attacked Kacharava today, forced him into the car and took in the unknown direction.
“He [Levan Kacharava] is severely beaten, but we still do not know who the attackers were. They threatened him to stop the committee’s activity,” Tea Jgarkava told Civil Georgia.
The committee says that head of Adjara Autonomous Republic Aslan Abashidze, who intends to boycott elections, is responsible for the incident.
