According to the Central Election Commission, the voter turnout exceeded 83%, while the election watchdog International Society for Fair Elections and Democracy (ISFED) reported 85% of voter turnout.
Chairman of the Central Election Commission (CEC) Zurab Tchiaberashvili said that the total number of voters exceed 2,1 million. CEC chief explained that beside 1,7 million voters, who underwent the voter registration before the elections, up to 400,000 voters were registered on January 4 on the elections day.
“Thus the percentage of the voter turnout is calculated from these figures,” Zurab Tchiaberashvili explained.
