Reports say dozens were injured as a result of the clash between the protesters and the police in the southern Adjarian village of Gonio on January 19.
The protesters demanded resignation of Aslan Abashidze, the head of Adjara Autonomous Republic.
The protest rally in Gonia was foiled on January 11 as well, when couple of haundred villagers tried to hang so called five-cross flag, which was a symbol of Mikheil Saakashvili’s National Movement party and now is the state flag of Georgia, on the administrative building of Gonio.
