Mikheil Saakashvili met on 23 January in Davos on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum with NATO Secretary-General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer.
Saakashvili told reporters after the meeting that the NATO-Russia Council will discuss at its session on 26 January the issue of the pullout of the Russian military bases from Georgia.
He also reaffirmed his desire for friendly relations with Russia and Georgia’s readiness to prevent terrorists from entering Russia from Georgian territory. Saakashvili also said that Georgia seeks for integration into the Euro-Atlantic structure.
Saakashvili, who will be inaugurated on January 25 as Georgia’s President, said that he was invited to attend a NATO Council summit next month.
