After the inauguration of the new President on Sunday, entire government of Georgia filed resignation on January 26.
Almost the entire cabinet of ministers of Georgia filed resignation today. Under the Constitution of Georgia, after election of the new President of Georgia, the entire cabinet of ministers should resign.
“Professionalism, reputation and patriotism will be the main criteria while appointing new ministers,” State Minister Zurab Zhvania said while commenting on the government’s resignation.
Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili will nominate new ministers within a week. It is anticipated that those minister who where appointed by the provisional leaders of the country after the November revolution, will retain posts in the cabinet.
According to the unofficial reports, member of President Saakashvili’s party National Movement Vano Merabishvili is expected to be appointed as the Secretary of the National Security Council.
