President Saakashvili officially nominated on February 9 State Minister Zurab Zhvania for Prime Minister”s position.
“He is very experienced politician. But the most important is that he knows very well that any kind of backstage deals with the corrupted clans would be catastrophic not only for his cabinet but also for the country,” President Saakashvili said during the meeting with the leaders of the Parliamentary factions this evening.
President Saakashvili also nominated today Justice Minister Zurab Adeishvili for the Security Minister”s post.
According to the constitutional amendments passed by the Parliament on February 7, the President will nominate “power ministers” – defense, security and interior ministers – unilaterally, while other members of the cabinet will be proposed to the Parliament for approval by the Prime Minister in coordination with the President.
