Border Guard Chief Appointed

Badri Bitsadze, who is a husband of Parliamentary Chairperson Nino Burjanadze, was officially appointed today as a Deputy Interior Minister and Commander of the Border Guard Department.

As a result of the government?s structural reforms the Border Guard Department was transformed under the Interior Ministry?s subordination.

?I am sure he [Badri Bitsadze] will make a good job on the new position,? Nino Burjanadze told reporters today, while commenting a new appointment.

Badri Bitsadze, who previously served as a Deputy General Prosecutor, replaced on the post of Commander of the Border Guard Department Valeri Chkheidze who was appointed on February 19 as a Deputy Security Minister and chief of the Intelligence Department.
