Visiting Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili told Georgian reporters in New York on February 27 that he expected “more serious disagreement” in ruling coalition regarding the composition of party-list of MP candidates which will run in March 28 proportional parliamentary polls.
Parliamentary Chairperson Nino Burjanadze said initial agreement with her allies – Premier Zurab Zhvania and President Saakashvili over the party-list was not fulfilled. Nino Burjanadze wanted more her supporters in the joint party-list of Saakashvili’s National Movement and Zhvania’s United Democrats parties.
“Composition of the party-list is very painful process. It was a test for our coalition and we could overcome it successfully as the unity was kept,” Mikheil Saakashvili said.
However, Nino Burjanadze says that she will take decision over her future political career after the meeting with Mikheil Saakashvili, who returns from the Unites States on February 28.
