Tengiz Apkhazava, chief of the Batumi office of the opposition movement Democratic Adjara, was found severely beaten near his apartment last night.
Apkhazava disappeared in Batumi several days ago and his family knew nothing about his whereabouts.
The public movement Democratic Adjara, which was set up in late January, demands holding of snap elections of the Adjarian legislative body ? the Supreme Council, which is now under the control of Adjarian leader Aslan Abashidze.
Later Democratic Adjara merged with another opposition Our Adjara movement.
