The opposition election bloc New Rights-Industrialists called for the central authorities “to avoid provocations” and resolve standoff with Adjara peacefully.
“Recent developments in Adjara are triggered by the foreign forces and aim at destabilization in the region. The central authorities should avoid this provocation,” Davit Gamkrelidze, one of the leaders of the New Rights-Industrialists bloc told a press conference on March 14.
Another opposition election bloc the Traditionalists-NDP also called for the central authorities for a restraint. The bloc leaders say that the tensions in Adjara are caused by the upcoming parliamentary elections, scheduled for March 28.
