Opposition Reportedly Intimidated in Adjara

Opposition leaders in Adjara claim the region’s authorities intimidate and demand from the opponents to leave the Autonomous Republic.

“There were around 40 cases of intimidation of our activists in recent days. Local authorities want them to leave Adjara,” Tamaz Diasamidze of Our Adjara movement, which is a major opposition union in Adjara, told Civil Georgia.

One of the demands of President Mikheil Saakashvili to Adjarian leader Aslan Abashidze was to ensure security of the opposition activists in Adjara.
