U.S. official said on March 16 that Washington keeps watching the situation “in Adjara closely.”
“We are in contact with both sides. We support the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Georgia,” Adam Ereli, deputy spokesman for the U.S. Department of State said at a news briefing in Washington.
“And I would also note that, you know, given the central government’s responsibility to ensuring that March 28th parliamentary elections are as democratic as possible, it’s particularly important to keep things together in Adjara, as well as the rest of the country,” he added
