Georgian Economy Minister Irakli Rekhviashvili explained on March 17, that economic sanctions against the Adjarian leadership consider restriction on shipment of cargo in the Adjarian Autonomy.
“Railway connection has been ceased unilaterally by the Adjarian leadership. Adjarian authorities also restrict free movement of persons across the administrative border,” Irakli Rekhviashvili said at a news briefing in Poti.
He demanded from the Adjarian authorities to resume railway link with the rest of Georgia.
Irakli Rekhviashvili also said that the restriction on shipment of the cargo in Adjara is due to prevent import of weapons in the region.
Georgian Economy Minister admitted that the sanctions hit only Adjara’s but also “entire Georgia’s economy.”
