Georgia commemorates today the victims of tragedy of April 9, 1989. Chairperson of the outgoing Parliament Nino Burjanadze and other officials, as well as political party leaders participated in the tribute ceremony outside the Parliament building.
20 people were reported killed as Soviet troops attacked crowd of protesters in a central square of Georgian capital of Tbilisi on April 9, 1989. Many others were affected by the poisonous gas used by the Soviet troops to disperse protesters.
