CEC Chief Urges President to Secure Rule of Law in Adjara

Chairman of the Central Election Commission Zurab Tchiaberashvili, who was barred from entering Adjarian Autonomy on April 14, called the General Prosecutor of Georgia to investigate the incident and punish those responsible for attempts to hinder elections in Adjara.


?I also urge President Saakashvili to secure constitutional rights and rule of law on entire Georgia?s territory in including Adjara,? Zurab Tchiaberashvili told a press conference on April 14.


President Saakashvili made no comments regarding the recent developments in Adjara so far.


The CEC Chairman intended to visit Adjara to oversee preparations for the repeat elections in the Autonomy?s two districts ? Kobuleti and Khulo. The Adjarian Authorities are against of holding repeat elections in Adjara.
