President Saakashvili appointed Giorgi Mzhavanadze as the chief of the Civil Aviation Department of Georgia.
New chief of Civil Aviation will have to deal with the problems facing foreign air companies in Georgia. In early April President Saakashvili urged settlement of the problem with the British Airways.
The company’s flight licence was canceled by the Civil Aviation Administration last year. The British Airways failed to restore flight licence and announced pull out from Georgian on March 31.
Ex-chief of the Civil Aviation Department Zurab Chankotadze was arrested and sentenced to a three-month pretrial detention. He is accused of misuse of power.
