According to the decision of the Georgian government, flags of the European Union will fly over all the governmental buildings alongside with the Georgia’s national flag.
Georgian authorities explained that the decision is a sign of the Georgian leadership’s willingness to carry out policy in compliance with the EU standards.
The EU flag already flies outside the Parliament building alongside with the Georgian flag. In a symbolic gesture Mikheil Saakashvili raised the flag of the European Union beside the Georgia’s five-cross national flag in January, when he was officially sworn in as a President.
