President Saakashvili said on April 20, while commenting on speculations over possible cabinet reshuffle, that he does not intend to sack Defense, Interior and Security Ministers.
He added that the issue of other ministers will be discussed with Prime Minister Zurab Zhvania.
“Before I am the President, Interior Minister [Giorgi Baramidze], Security Minister [Zurab Adeishvili] and Defense Minister [Gela Bezhuashvili], as well as Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces Givi Iukuridze will remain on their positions,” Mikheil Saakashvili told a press conference.
According to the constitution newly elected Parliament should approve the cabinet, which was already approved by the outgoing Parliament in February, again.
Georgian media speculates that Economy Minister Irakli Rekhviashvili, as well as Minister of Infrastructure Tamar Sulukhia will not retain posts.
