Director of the Federal Border Guard Service of Russia, Col.Gen. Vladimer Pronichev will arrive in Tbilisi on April 21 to hold talks with his Georgian counterpart, Chairman of the State Border Guard Department, Maj.Gen. Badri Bitsadze.
The issues of further cooperation over protection of the troubled Chechen section of the Russian-Georgian border will be discussed during the talks.
It is anticipated that the Russian and Georgian borderguard chiefs will sign an agreement on bilateral cooperation.
The agreemend over joint controlling the border was achieved during President Saakashvili’s visit to Moscow in early February.
Moscow wants guarantees that rebels from Chechnya will not be allowed to move through Georgia.
