President Saakashvili officially convened first session of the newly elected Parliament for April 22. Initially the Parliament’s session was scheduled for April 21.
The Parliament will elect Chairman, Vice-Speakers and Chairmen of the Parliamentary Committees at its inaugural session. It is widely expected that Nino Burjanadze will be re-elected on Parliamentary Chairperson’s post.
Nino Burjanadze, Chairman of the outgoing Parliament reiterated on April 20 that situation in restive Adjarian Autonomy will also be discussed at the session. “It is [situation in Adjara] very painful issue,” she told reporters.
