Secretary of the National Security Council Vano Merabishvili said at a news briefing on April 30, that Georgia’s central government will open special enlistment offices in Poti and Adigeni, outside Adjara, for those conscripts, who live in the Adjara Autonomous Republic.
“According to the law, the local governance bodies are responsible for calling up recruits. But we call conscripts living in Adjara not to obey local authorities and arrive in Poti and Adigeni for undergoing registration. Otherwise their military service will not be considered in Adjara as valid,” Vano Merabishvili said on April 30.
He also said more servicemen of military units deployed in Adjara are arriving in Tbilisi as they refuse to obey Adjarian leader Aslan Abashidze.
