One opposition activist was arrested and five others beaten up in Adjarian capital Batumi on May 2, according to the Our Adjara, which is a major opposition movement to the Adjarian leader Alan Abashidze.
Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili gave 10-day ultimatum to Abashidze to disarm his paramilitary forces and respect human rights, otherwise threatened to cancel Adjarian government and parliament and hold snap elections in the region.
