Georgian Prime Minister Zurab Zhvania in holding meeting with the foreign diplomats accredited to Georgia late on May 4 to discuss situation in defiant Adjarian Autonomy.
“We continue informing them [foreign diplomats] regarding the developments in Adjara, Georgian Foreign Minister Salome Zurabishvili told reporters before the meeting with diplomats.
The United States has already condemned Adjarian leader Aslan Abashidze and accused him of “trying to provoke military crisis with Georgia’s newly democratically elected leadership.”
The Turkish Foreign Ministry issued a statement on May 4, expressing hope that “the parties involved will act with cool heads and caution so that current events do not move in an undesired direction.”
Russian Foreign Ministry called Tbilisi to refrain from using force in Adjara.
