Russia’s Aeroflot Wants Shares of Georgian Airlines

The Georgian flagship company Airzena and the Aeroflot-Russian Airlines “are negotiating over future cooperation,” Airzena’s spokesperson said; however she denied that the Georgian company has already sold its controlling shares to the Aeroflot.

President of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs Arkadi Volsky, who attended the Georgian-Russian Business Forum in Tbilisi, told reporters on May 28 that the Aeroflot is seeking for purchasing shares in the Georgian flagship company.

“The agreement has already been reached,” he added.

However, spokesperson of the Airzena Tea Gabadadze told Civil Georgia on May 29 that “the sides have launched a dialogue over future cooperation; however any particular agreements have not been reached yet.”

“Reports over purchasing the shares of the Georgian Airlines by the Aeroflot are not true,” she added.
