New Ambassador to Russia Nominated

President Saakashvili told reporters, upon his arrival from Turkey on June 30, that he will nominate Valeri Chechelashvili as Georgia?s new Ambassador to Russia.


Valeri Chechelashvili has been serving as the third Secretary General of the Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation Permanent International Secretariat (BSEC PERMIS), since 2000.


Valeri Chechelashvili, who studied International Economics at the Kiev State University, joined the Georgian Foreign Ministry in 1989 and served as Georgia?s Ambassador to Ukraine in 1994-1998.


Georgia?s former Ambassador to Russia Kote Kemularia was approved as the Chairman of the Georgian Supreme Court on June 25.
