Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili said on October 18 that “severe measures” will be carried out against those employees in the law-enforcement agencies who still continue taking bribes.
“Bribe-taking still persists in the law-enforcement agencies, however, now we have those people who will arrest bribe-takers. We will not step back; we will continue to struggle against these people,” Saakashvili told reporters on October 18.
Earlier today Interior Minister Irakli Okruashvili and Prosecutor General Zurab Adeishvili said that more attention will be paid to eradicating human rights abuses and corruption within the law agencies.
