Official: explosive, equivalent to 400 grams of TNT, was placed in the trash-can

A blast occurred in one of the underground road crossings in Tbilisi on Heroes Square on October 20.  The caused no casualties.

“The explosive, equivalent to 400 grams of TNT, was placed in one of the trash-cans of the underground road crossing. We have also found a letter near the place, where the explosion occurred, which is most likely linked to the blast,” Davit Rogava, deputy chief of the investigations department of the Security Ministry, told Civil Georgia.

“The letter, which is written in the old Georgian script, is addressed to President Saakashvili. Our experts are examining the letter at the moment,” he added.

Law enforcers say that an investigation is ongoing and no other details of the incident are known so far.
