A Tbilisi Court sentenced former Interior Minister Koba Narchemashvili to three-months pre-trial detention on October 27.
Koba Narchemashvili was arrested on October 24 for alleged misuse of power.
Narchemashvili, who served as the country’s Interior Minister from 2001-2003, is suspected of violating customs regulations by importing tear gas from Azerbaijan and enforcing unlawful regulations for the import of cars.
However, Narchemashvili’s lawyers claim that the former Minister’s arrest is politically motivated.
