Opposition MPs Koba Davitashvili and Zviad Dzidziguri announced the creation of the new Conservative Party of Georgia on November 8.
At the presentation of the party?s charter, the founders of the new political party announced that setting up of the new faction of Conservatives is also planned in the Parliament. At least 10 MPs are required to establish a parliamentary faction.
Koba Davitashvili says that it will be ?a western-type political movement? which will hold primary elections before nominating candidates for the elective positions, including the presidency.
The new party was set up on the bases of the Union of National Forces – Conservatives. The party was led by MP Zviad Dzidziguri. Like Koba Davitashvili, the Union of National Forces ? Conservatives party was an ally of the ruling National Movement-Democrats party, led by President Mikheil Saakashvili
