U.S. General Discusses Military Assistance Program in Georgia

The U.S. General Peter Pace, who is the Vice Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, arrived in Tbilisi on December 5 to discuss a new military assistance program for Georgian troops with the Georgian leadership.


General Pace told reporters upon his arrival that an assistance program is being developed but the details of this program are not yet known.

Embassy Chief of Staff of the Georgian Armed Forces Vakhtang Kapanadze told reporters that the new assistance program will aim at increasing the capacity of Georgia?s peacekeeping operations.


General Pace will meet Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili later on December 5.
