Lavrov: OSCE Border Operation is in Process of Closure

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, who met with visiting Chairman-in-Office of OSCE and Slovenian Foreign Minister Dimitrij Rupel in Moscow on February 1, said that the issue of OSCE border monitoring mission at the Russian-Georgian border was not discussed during the talks, Interfax news agency reported.

?The mission is in the process of closure. It has already been decided,? Lavrov said.

Russia vetoed the discussion of prolongation of the OSCE Border Operation Mission at the Chechen, Ingush and Daghestani sections of the Russo-Georgian border late last December, triggering protests from officials in Tbilisi.
