On February 7 Parliamentary Chairperson Nino Burjanadze ruled out the option that constitutional amendments may be proposed in the wake of the death of Georgian Prime Minister Zurab Zhvania.
The Georgian media has speculated that President Saakashvili might propose constitutional changes following the death of Prime Minister Zurab Zhvania in an attempt either to reduce the new Prime Minister?s power or abolish the position completely.
Nino Burjanadze told reporters that the current constitution is ?transitional? and ?it will be amended sometime in the future, but not now.?
