Georgian Foreign Minister Salome Zourabichvili said on August 26 that the Commonwealth of Independent States is not an organization, ?which has a huge importance,? but added that it plays ?certain significance,? mainly in the economic sphere.
Salome Zourabichvili was speaking with reporters before departure to Kazan, where the summit of CIS leaders has already began. Zourabichvili is accompanying Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili at the summit.
?I think the most important thing about the CIS is that the leaders of those countries who have common past and problems can meet regularly,? Salome Zourabichvili added.
The Georgian Foreign Minister said that this is the first time she is participating in a CIS event. When asked by journalists whether it will be her first and the last participation, she answered that she does not think it will be the last CIS summit.
