Georgian Election watchdog organizations International Society for Free Elections and Democracy (ISFED) and the New Generation?New Initiative reported that so far no ?serious? violations have been observed in the MP by-elections, which are taking place in five single-mandate constituencies on October 1.
But the observers say that the problems persist regarding the voter lists. There have been reports that some voters could not find their names in the lists, hence were unable to cast ballot.
In its TV public campaign the Central Election Commission has been calling on the voters to check themselves in the voter lists warning that there would be no registration allowed on the election day.
However, Georgian televisions broadcasted on October 1 interviews with several voters, who claim that although they underwent pre-election registration, their names were not found in the voter lists.
