State Audit Notes ‘Financial Wrongdoings’ in MFA

The Chamber of Control which is the main state audit agency has revealed number of financial wrongdoings in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the agency’s official said at the session of the parliamentary committee for foreign affairs on November 4.


Jacob Meskhi said that these alleged wrongdoings, which were committed in the period when Salome Zourabichvili held the Foreign Minister’s position, involve purchase of equipment and vehicles worth of GEL 132,000 without announcing a tender, as well as “spending thousands of Lari” to cover travel expanses for journalists, who accompanied ex-Foreign Minister in visits abroad.


Salome Zourabichvili has already dismissed these allegations as groundless and described them as an attempt of the government to put pressure on her and her new public movement.
