The Parliamentary Committee for Foreign Affairs discussed and approved on November 15 five new ambassadorial nominations, which were recently proposed by the President to the Parliament for approval.
Deputy Defense Minister Vasil Sikharulidze was nominated as Ambassador to the United States, Canada and Mexico. He will replace Levan Mikeladze at this position.
Levan Mikeladze is now nominated as the Ambassador to Switzerland.
Former Deputy Foreign Minister Konstantine Kavtaradze is nominated as Georgian Ambassador to Poland.
Permanent Representative of Georgia to the OSCE Victor Dolidze is nominated as Ambassador to Austria and Hungary. This latter will also retain his position as representative to the OSCE.
Nikoloz Nikolozishvili is nominated as Georgian Ambassador to Slovakia and Slovenia.
Next week the Parliament will withdraw Georgia?s Ambassador to Spain Lasha Otkhmezuri, Ambassador to Slovakia and Slovania Zaur Gamsakhurdia and Ambassador to Hungary and Austria Konstantine Zhgenti. All of these Ambassadors were appointed after recommendations by ex-Foreign Minister Salome Zourabichvili.
