Leaders of six opposition parties – the New Rights, Republican, Conservative, Industrialists, Freedom and Labor – announced on July 7 that they launch boycotting the Rustavi 2 TV, describing the television stations as branch of the government.
The opposition leaders also said that decision of Eka Khoperia, ex-anchor of a political talk-show aired by Rustavi 2 TV, to quit was a result of the government?s pressure.
Although Khoperia admitted on July 7 that there were demands voiced by some governmental officials about the format of the July 6 program dedicated to the Girgvliani murder case trial, she refrained to describe these demands as a pressure.
?From now on we will suspend cooperation with this television. We will not give interviews to Rustavi 2 and by this we will try to oppose violence in Georgian media,? leader of the New Rights, MP Davit Gamkrelidze said.
