Russia will carry out a planned rotation of its peacekeepers in the Abkhaz conflict zone on December 17-23, Apsnypress news agency reported.
According to the report, 500 new servicemen will replace the present contingent of the Russian Peacekeeping Battalion in the northern part of the security zone, as well as in the Lower Kodori Gorge.
The last rotation was carried out in the Abkhaz conflict zone on December 10. The Georgian authorities claimed that it took place without prior agreement with Tbilisi.
Tbilisi has also accused Moscow of increasing its military presence in Abkhazia. UN observers, however, said they had been unable to confirm the allegations.
