Shalva Natelashvili, a presidential candidate and leader of the Labor Party, has welcomed tycoon Badri Patarkatsishvili’s decision to remain in the presidential race.
“Despite the fact that we have nothing in common with Patarkatsishvili, neither ideological nor structural [meaning there is no party cooperation or financial contribution from Patarkatsishvili], we welcome his decision to run. This is a positive fact, because the more rivals Saakashvili has, the more votes he and his undemocratic team will lose,” Natelashvili said on January 3.
In a written statement released on January 3, Patarkatsishvili retracted his earlier pledge to withdraw from the presidential race and said that he would “continue to fight on to be elected president.”
