Thirty two people have applied to become the director general of the Georgian Public Broadcaster (GPB). The deadline for the submission of applications expired on March 23.
Candidates include:
Ia Antadze, a political commentator and journalist;
Zviad Koridze, a journalist;
Lasha Tugushi, the editor-in-chief of the daily Rezonansi;
Dodo Shonava, a journalist;
Giorgi Chanturia – head of animation studio;
Giorgi Kalandadze – a spokesman for the Georgian National Bank;
Mamuka Areshidze – a former journalist;
Vakhtang Nikolava – anchor of the GPB’s news program Moambe;
Levan Kubaneishvili – head of TBC TV production studio;
Valery Kvaratskhelia; a former MP;
Sulkhan Meladze, a former anchor of the First TV Channel (GPB predecessor);
Lasha Bakradze;
Sergo Bitsadze;
Shio Oboladze;

The GPB board of trustees has to appoint the new director general no later than April 4. The board is expected to make a shortlist of hopefuls by March 28.
