While speaking at the 13th annual OSCE Parliamentary Assembly Session in Edinburgh, Scotland on July 8, Georgian Parliamentary Chairperson Nino Burjanadze informed the session regarding the recent developments in breakaway South Ossetia.
?Today the threat of war is posed to Georgia. OSCE can assist Georgia to avoid a renewal of the armed conflict,? the Georgian Parliamentary Chairperson said while addressing the Assembly.
Nino Burjanadze also stressed Russia?s role in the current situation. ?Russian peacekeepers [deployed in the South Ossetian conflict zone] will either perform their duties or we, along with OSCE and other international organizations, will discuss the issue of their replacement by international peacekeeping forces,? Burjanadze said.
President of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly Bruce George raised concerns over the recent developments in breakaway South Ossetia and his pledged support to the Georgian delegation.
