Three Georgian Soldiers Released in South Ossetia

Three Georgian servicemen, members of the internal troops, that  haven been detained by the South Ossetian militias since early July, were released by the authorities in breakaway South Ossetia late on August 18.


In exchange, the Georgian side released one Ossetian who was detained on July 19 while transporting an anti-tank guided missile system “Fagot” into South Ossetia.


Georgian State Minister for Conflict Resolution Issues Goga Khaindrava told reporters that the South Ossetian side agreed to release the Georgian soldiers during talks with de facto President of South Ossetian Eduard Kokoev on August 18.
