Putin Calls on Tbilisi, Tskhinvali for a Compromise

Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed hope on August 20, that the Georgian and South Ossetian sides will show political will and follow undertaken commitments over ceasefire.

?If violation of agreements will continue there will be no breakthrough? It is necessary to sit at the negotiating table and reach a compromise,? Vladimir Putin said at a news briefing in the southern Russian city of Sochi on August 20.

Like in his earlier comments on South Ossetia made on August 18, Vladimir Putin recalled once again that the conflict in South Ossetia was triggered in early 90s after the Georgian authorities revoked South Ossetia?s autonomous status.
