Georgia will simplify visa rules starting from September 9, as a result all foreigners traveling to Georgia will be able to obtain Georgian visa directly in the airports of Tbilisi and Batumi, or at any other border checkpoint. No formal invitation letters are needed. The visas can also be obtained at the consular offices of the Georgian embassies abroad.
Georgian Foreign Minister Salome Zourabichvili said at a news briefing on September 2 that this move aims at attracting more foreign tourists to Georgia.
Georgia also halved the prices for visa. From September 9, one-month visa will cost USD 10; three-month ? USD 30 and the price for annual visa will be reduced from current USD 200 to USD 100.
In July Georgia unilaterally simplified visa requirements with Russia.
