Georgian Citizen Reportedly Survives in Beslan School Siege

Georgian television Rustavi 2 reported that Georgian citizen Ilona Savitskaia and her seven-year-old son Alan Chandishvili, who were among the hostages seized in the school in North Ossetian town of Beslan, are alive.


Speaking live from the scene, correspondent of Rustavi 2 television Nana Lezhava said she has talked to Savitskaia after she and her son Alan were evacuated from the school.


Savitskaia and her husband, ethnic Ossetian Bondo Chandishvili moved to North Ossetia from Georgia six year ago. The family spent summer holidays at their relatives in Tbilisi and return to Beslan to few days before September 1 ? the first day of school term.
