According to the decision made at the CIS Summit in Kazakh capital Astana on September 15-16, Maj.Gen. Victor Voloshin will be appointed as a new commander of the Russian peacekeeping forces, deployed in breakaway Abkhazia under the aegis of the CIS.
Georgian media reported that Maj.Gen. Victor Voloshin will replace Maj.Gen. Alexander Evteev, whose two-year term of service has already expired.
Earlier in September Russia also replaced commander of its peacekeeping troops in breakaway South Ossetia Sviatoslav Nabzdorov with Maj.Gen. Murat Kulakhmetov.
