Justice Minister Plans “one stop shop” for Property Documentation

Justice Minister Giorgi Papuashvili announced plans on September 22 to create a “one stop shop” for all civil documentation; this “shop” will be coordinated by the Ministry of Justice.

According to Papuashvili, mant of the government agencies that handle vital property and civil documentation issues for citizens are inefficient and breed corruption. Papuashvili announced a plan to create a Unified Civil Registry.

As a first step in this effort the Justice Ministry plans to create a unified system for providing all property-related documentation. According to this plan the current technical examination bureaus will be abolished and a joint database will be created.

This should establish a “one stop shop” for all property-related documentation relating to renting and purchasing, as well as decrease the time necessary for processing the applications down to five working days.
