Georgian Defense Minister Giorgi Baramidze met with his U.S. counterpart Donald Rumsfeld in Washington, D.C. on September 24.
After the talks, Giorgi Baramidze said in an interview to the Itar-Tass news agency that Georgia intends to set up an air defense system, but he denied his government’s intentions to purchase a Patriot system from the United States.
No other details of the talks have been made available so for, as no press conference was held after the meeting.
